Project report
Colette came to us wanting to make better use of her roof, bring her electricity bills down and take more control of how her home uses energy.
We quoted it the way we quote everything. No pressure and no hard sell, just a walk through the options and what each one would actually do for her.
What shaped the design was a power cut. Colette had her first in five years not long before the job, and it made her think about what happens when the grid goes down. So we added a Sigenergy HomePro Backup Gateway. Power cuts are rare where she lives, but if you are putting a whole energy system in anyway, the reassurance is worth having.
The finished system is 14 AIKO all black panels at 6.86 kWp, running into a 6 kW Sigenergy SigenStor hybrid inverter with 8.76 kWh of battery storage.
It is forecast to generate 7,752 kWh a year and to be worth around £1,507 in the first year once savings and export income are counted, with payback at about eight years. It should also cover roughly 82% of what the house uses, so most of Colette's electricity now comes off her own roof rather than off the grid.
From first enquiry to a working system took three weeks. The installation itself was done in a day, with the roofing and electrical teams on site together.
Every year, Colette offsets the carbon equivalent of taking eight flights to Madrid.
